you know, it’s sort of along the lines of why we get so interested in bigotted drunk hollywood asses, but it sickens me how much attention is paid to John Mark Karr, and the JonBenet Ramsey story. Yes, it is horrible what happened to her, and good that maybe the case will be solved and her killer brought to justice.
but the lead story on cnn? how many little children are killed, or raped, or both, and their cases go unsolved, and we never hear about them? how many children were killed in lebanon this past week? what makes this little white girl so special, and why does her story lead the news on monday morning? it’s like the human race has a.d.d. and are very easily distracted by a new shiny object. we are enamoured with celebrity, and celebrity death and depravity tops everything, even stories about far more important things going on in the world. I guess i can see the mel gibson story on the entertainment pages, but why is it on the front page? it sickens me.
Money … it’s not about the Moral High Ground or Social Responsibility … it’s about the dollar value of a story. It’s the society we live in and unless we start turning away from the behavior, it will continue because it is profitable. Sad.
Yep…gotta say I agree with mdvhvonpa. The Almight Dollar, and of course a strong denial of reality…if we don’t see it, it must not be happening. Like little kids who cover their eyes and think you can’t see them…definitely a White House tactic!
