I think I know what you’re saying and I struggle with the same thing. I understand the psychology, but I believe it’s not how we talk to ourselves, but how we talk to God and how He speaks to us. No matter what I do, no matter what MS does to me, no matter what other people or even I think of me, God loves me, values me and comforts me. For me, talking to Him is a better idea than talking to myself.
Yes, talking to myself as myself is rarely productive. But, in the end, if I can get out of the way, talking to myself is talking to The Divine, since, in the end, that’s who we all are.
